In our most recent CQC inspection, our Trust was rated as “Good”, a major benchmark of high quality and effective services. Crucially, the Trust’s approach to caring for patients was rated Outstanding, as was the way our organisation is led. Of the 37 domains inspected on this occasion, which make up the Trust’s overall rating, 31 were either rated as Good or Outstanding.

We have links to the University of Bristol, the University of Bath, and the University of the West of England. Our annual turnover is £950 million, and we employ over 12,500 staff delivering healthcare across Southmead Hospital Bristol, Cossham Hospital, Bristol Centre for Enablement, and within the local community of Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We treat some of the most difficult medical conditions in an increasingly complex patient population.

Severn Pathology aspires to offer excellence and through working in collaboration with other partners, our intention is to be recognised as a leading provider of Pathology services in England.
The Director of Severn Pathology Services is managerially accountable for providing professional, operational, and strategic leadership to Severn Pathology Services which includes Blood Sciences, Cellular Pathology, Infection Sciences, and the South-west Genomics Laboratory Hub.
