On Tuesday 28 May we're marking the tenth birthday of the Brunel building with our staff, patients and volunteers. We will also be marking the anniversaries of other buildings and services throughout 2024, as well as sharing memories and aspirations from our staff and members of our local community.
The Brunel opened its doors in May 2014, with services and patients moving into the new purpose-built hospital building over the course of two weeks. During the past 10 years there have been more than 3.5 million outpatient appointments, more than one million people treated as inpatients and more than 900,000 Emergency Department attendances.
The building is one of the most advanced and modern hospitals in the entire NHS. Not only is it a fantastic facility but it has also transformed healthcare across our communities in the decade it has been open.
