Celebrating Deaf Awareness Week 2024

North Bristol NHS Trust is thrilled to have been a part of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Information Day event, organised by the Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People. This event which was held last week to mark Deaf Awareness week, brought together various stakeholders and organisations dedicated to supporting individuals with hearing challenges.

The event featured an array of stalls, with each providing valuable resources including the Accessible Information Standards, Dr Doctor, Audiology and Unity Sexual Health. The Deaf Community had the opportunity to engage with representatives from North Bristol NHS Trust, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust and Sirona Health and Care and gain access to information on services, and support available to the deaf and hard of hearing community.

One of the highlights of the event was the presence of British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters, ensuring seamless communication and inclusivity for all participants. Their invaluable contribution made the event accessible to individuals of all hearing abilities, fostering an environment of understanding and support. North Bristol NHS Trust is proud to have been part of this initiative, reaffirming our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity in healthcare. We extend our gratitude to the Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People and all participating organisations for their dedication to empowering the deaf and hard of hearing community.
