A patient who has tested positive for coronavirus has been admitted to Southmead Hospital and is being cared for in our specialist infectious diseases unit in isolated conditions.
There is no risk to other patients, visitors and staff and our services are running as normal.
North Bristol NHS Trust Deputy Chief Executive Evelyn Barker said: “We have highly experienced doctors, nurses and other staff who are appropriately trained and equipped to deal with this effectively.”

Our advice to the public is do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you think you are at risk.
Good hygiene is the best way to prevent the further spread of the virus, so everyone is asked to regularly wash their hands thoroughly and if they cough, cover their mouth and nose with a tissue.
