This week North Bristol NHS Trust and Avon & Somerset Police celebrated the official opening of the new Westgate House Police enquiry office on the Southmead Hospital site.
The new centre, which is now the base for 40 members of policing staff, was announced in April 2018, and has been running from its new site in the grounds of Southmead Hospital since early July.
Residents in North Bristol can now visit the enquiry office between 10am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Simon Wood, Director of Estates, Facilities, and Capital Planning at North Bristol NHS Trust said: "We're really delighted to have Avon and Somerset police on site - we work very closely and it makes perfect sense for them to make use of a building that was unoccupied at the time and yet is so central to the community.
Prior to the opening of the new station, police had been temporarily based in Southmead Fire Station, however the refurbished building on the hospital site now allows members of the public to easily make enquiries and reach out with their concerns.
Sue Mountstevens, the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner said: "This site just ticked every box. Residents asked for the return of a permanent police station in the area, and I am so pleased to be here actually launching it after a huge collaborative effort between the police, the NHS trust, and many other services over the past years.
"It is an area of demand, and it is where police are needed - it's absolutely fantastic to have a visible presence back here in the very heart of the community.
"It's a wonderful building, very light, open, and welcoming, and we really want the public to feel as though they can drop in to discuss any issues affecting them - not just with police but across a range of services that address the needs of North Bristol.
