On Thursday, 26 September we held our Health Fair and Annual Public Meeting at Southmead Hospital, providing an overview of our performance in the 2023/24 financial year.
The event saw a fantastic turnout, with over 50 attendees including staff, patients, and members of the local community coming together to celebrate our achievements over this past year.
There was a fantastic atmosphere, offering attendees a chance to connect with our services, including Maternity, Cancer, Careers, Sustainability and more. Caafi Health, played a key role in providing health checks including blood pressure readings, diabetes and cholesterol checks. We gained valuable insights into our community support services. The energy and engagement throughout the fair reflected the strong connection between NBT and the community we serve.
The Annual Public Meeting that followed offered a reflective and forward-looking overview of our Trust’s progress. Our Joint Chair, Ingrid Barker and Joint Chief Executive, Maria Kane, shared some of the highlights and challenges from the year while Hospital Managing Director and Chief Finance Officer, Glyn Howells, talked through our financial position. Chief Operating Officer, Steve Curry, shared details of our Patient First Approach.
Highlights of the evening included inspiring presentations from Neurosurgeon Mario Teo on cutting-edge robotic surgery and Dr Lisa Kirk’s update on Project SMILE, which is making a real difference in maternity care for women from black and ethnic minority backgrounds.
For the Annual Public Meeting we produced a summary version of the Annual Report, you can find the full version of the Annual Report, Accounts and Financial Statement on our website.
The passion and enthusiasm from all participants is a testament to the incredible work happening across NBT and the strong bonds we continue to build with our community.
