Midwives have set up a support group for families affected by pregnancy or baby loss.
The peer support group has been organised by North Bristol NHS Trust’s Bereavement Support Midwives to create an informal safe space for bereaved parents to talk with other families affected by the loss of a baby.
Our Bereavement Support Midwives help families when they suffer a pregnancy or baby loss but also afterwards and if they become pregnant again.
They wanted to set up the Bereaved Parents Support Group as they felt many of the families they help would benefit from the opportunity to talk with others who have been through a similar experience.
Bereavement Support Midwife Stephanie, said: “We know that baby loss has an ongoing impact on parents and wanted to offer them a supportive space where they can speak about how they feel with other people who understand what they are going through.
“We hope families will benefit from this experience.”
The group will meet at Cossham Hospital, in Kingswood, with the first session being held on 16 September from 10-11.30am.
This will be followed by a meeting on 14 October, also from 10-11.30am.
