NBT Staff Wellbeing Programme named regional champions for wellbeing in NHS Parliamentary Awards

North Bristol NHS Trust’s Staff Wellbeing programme has been shortlisted for a prestigious NHS Parliamentary Award in the Wellbeing at Work category.

The programme and the teams that work within it have been selected as ‘regional champions’ representing the South West, by a panel of senior NHS England and NHS Improvement representatives.

The nominations from every region will now go forward to the national judging panel to decide the winners in each category.

Darren Jones, MP for Bristol North West who submitted the nomination said:

“I am delighted to hear my nomination in the Wellbeing at Work category has been shortlisted for an NHS Award. The staff and volunteers at North Bristol NHS Trust work hard, and often in very challenging circumstances. Whilst the team’s focus is on caring and supporting their patients, it is right that staff and volunteers have opportunity to focus on their own needs too. It is accurate to say, the team at North Bristol NHS Trust are leading the way when it comes to Wellbeing at Work and I wish them every success at the NHS Awards Evening in July.”

The Wellbeing Programme is funded by Southmead Hospital Charity, and is made up of a range of physical, psychological and lifestyle support provided by staff working at the trust, including a free over-the-phone physiotherapy assessment service, bespoke psychological support sessions, Arts on Referral and the Mental Health First Aid network.

Staff also have access to a 24/7 free, confidential helpline offering counselling about financial, legal, relationships and more, provided by partner organisation Health Assured.

Guy Dickson, Head of People Strategy and the Wellbeing Programme lead said:

“We are so excited to be shortlisted for this award. At North Bristol NHS Trust, we know that the better our staff feel, the higher the quality of care they are able to provide to our patients. The wellbeing of our staff is hugely important to us, which is why we are always saying ‘your health is as important as our patients’’; and why we feel so proud to be recognised as a regional champions for Wellbeing at Work.”

The NHS Parliamentary Awards 2019 will take place on Wednesday 10th July in the House of Commons, Westminster.
