North Bristol NHS Trust to celebrate National Inter Faith Week 2024

The earth with people holding hands.

We will be celebrating National Inter Faith Week from 11 to 15 November at Southmead Hospital. This will be an opportunity to take part in a celebration of religious and cultural diversity. The event will shine a spotlight on the values of inclusivity and understanding, with activities designed to connect patients, staff, and the local community through shared experiences.

The week kicks off with a launch event in the atrium of the Brunel building on Monday 11 November. Attendees are encouraged to wear traditional attire reflecting their cultural or religious heritage.

Throughout Inter Faith Week, there will be live performances showcasing various religious and cultural traditions, including African, Indian, and Turkish-Kurdish music and dance, offering a unique cultural experience within the hospital setting. Creative workshops will provide a space for artistic expression and healing, while reflective spaces will provide the opportunity for inter faith conversation and spiritual connection, open to people of all beliefs and backgrounds.

Mark Read, Lead Chaplain at NBT, said: “I am excited about celebrating National Inter Faith Week at Southmead Hospital with such a broad range of events and opportunities reflecting our commitment to our community and to everyone attending our hospitals.

“We value people whatever their cultural heritage or personal beliefs. Through music, dance, worship, creative workshops, health information stands and more, we will celebrate the richness of our diversity and our commitment to providing health care for all. Everyone is welcome to join in the celebration and take part in this powerful experience.”

The week-long celebration is part of our commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for all. By celebrating the diversity of its community, the Trust aims to enhance mutual understanding and compassion among patients, carers, staff, and visitors.

All are welcome to join in this celebration.
