NBT has received the Silver Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, as an acknowledgement of the ongoing support for colleagues that are members of the Armed Forces family.
Since receiving the Bronze Award in 2015, ‘Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT)’ and the People’s team have worked hard to demonstrate that applicants with military links are not unfairly disadvantaged during the recruitment process, and to implement HR policies that offer support to the NBT armed forces community.
Initiatives include providing special paid leave of up to two weeks per year for reservists who attend annual camps to support training, and securing membership to the Career Transition Partnership to recruit service personnel at careers fairs. The Trust intranet also hosts a dedicated page for external support and information for Armed Forces family members.
Jacqui Marshall, Chief People Officer at NBT said; “North Bristol NHS Trust are delighted to receive the Silver Award from The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. We recognise the highly valued transferable skills that the Armed Forces Family brings into our workforce and we are committed to continue improving our support for them to have successful careers in the NHS.”
To commemorate NBT’s achievement, we will receive a plaque to display on site later this year.
