Test name: Full Blood Count a.k.a. FBC, CBC
Condition / Indication: For the initial assessment of white cells, red cells and platelets. Includes measurement of Hb, RBC, Hct, red cell indices, WBC, WBC differential and platelet count.
Special precautions & notes: Samples that are clotted, lipaemic, have small volume, are diluted by drip line, aged >24 hours may cause inaccurate results. Cold agglutinins- Samples are warmed as per laboratory protocol. Adult samples >1ml of blood. Paediatric/neonate >500μl of blood required.
