NBT eXtra works within our Trust to fill temporary gaps in the workforce with existing staff or through trusted external suppliers.
Being part of our bank allows healthcare professionals to adjust their shift patterns to better fit their lifestyle. Our shifts can be booked up to six weeks in advance, or at late notice, and can suit your childcare arrangements or your substantive position with us.
You'll receive an induction and support to complete orientation shifts, before starting work.

Shifts available within NBT eXtra include (but are not limited to):
- Emergency Medicine.
- Intensive Care.
- Neonatal Intensive Care.
- Mental Health.

- General Surgical.
- Theatres.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer shifts on bank to Newly Qualified Nurses as you must have at least 18 months of experience in an acute hospital. You must have current NMC Registration to apply.
Bank Healthcare Support Workers

×Our bank Healthcare Support Workers play a key role in supporting patients across our clinical teams.
Also known as Healthcare Assistants, responsibilities of this role include:
- Delivering therapeutic care to patients as required within the scope of the Healthcare Support Worker remit.
- Supporting Registered Nursing staff in the provision of basic nursing care to patients by assisting patients to maximise their independence with:
- Personal hygiene.
- Diets and fluids.
- Dressing.
- Toileting, including emptying and changing urine drainage bags according to Trust procedures.
- Mobilising patients and supporting to regain independence.
Our Healthcare Support Workers also help to promote and maintain a clean and comfortable environment on the ward/department to meet the needs of our patients, their relatives and carers.
In order to be successful as a Healthcare Support Worker for NBT eXtra, you will need to have previous experience of working as a Healthcare Support Worker or in a similar care role for a minimum of 6 months. If you are a Student Nurse, please state clearly in your supporting information the year of study you are currently in and the university you are studying with.

×As a Domestic Operative (Cleaner) or Porter, you would be joining 2,900 other members of staff who between them cover a total of 8,700 hours a month. The work our facilities staff do is vital to the success of the hospital and they work hard to keep our patients safe and comfortable. Domestic Operative
Our Domestic Operatives provide a high quality, responsive, efficient and effective patient support service to wards and departments in our Trust by providing general ward and department cleaning (including infection cleans). The role also includes the movement of consumable products, waste, furniture and medical equipment.
Portering Operative
As a Portering Operative, you would play a key role in transporting patients in a safe manner via wheelchair, bed and trolley or escorting patients (who are deemed to not require a medical escort) to and from wards and departments. Our Porters are also responsible for the transportation of furniture, medical equipment gasses, beds and mattresses. They are responsible for the collection and distribution of waste, monitoring the effectiveness of the local segregation of waste and escalating any concerns to the Waste Supervisor.
Catering Operative
We have a range of opportunities at NBT eXtra to join us in a catering role. As a Ward Operative, you will help us provide outstanding patient care by delivering food directly to our patients on our wards. We also have opportunities available for Chefs and Catering Assistants to work in our modern staff restaurant.

×At NBTeXtra, we can offer opportunities for a variety of Administrative and Clerical staff roles, whether you are a Data Input Clerk (band 2), a Ward Receptionist, a Medical Secretary, or a PA (Band 3/4/5), or in a Technical or Financial role (band 5 upwards).
The majority of our Administrative and Clerical work involves Monday to Friday, office hours.
For Ward Receptionist roles, you would work on a rotational basis, which may include weekends and nights.
