Test name: EPO a.k.a. erythropoietin
Condition / Indication: EPO levels can be used to determine efficacy of EPO therapy. It is occasionally used in the investigation of polycythaemia. Lower EPO levels than expected have been seen with anaemias associated with the following conditions: rheumatoid arthritis, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, cancer, ulcerative colitis, sickle cell disease, and in premature neonates.
Special precautions & notes: EPO is stable for up to 72hrs when the sample is stored at 4C.
