Endocrine Surgery

The department of endocrine surgery is based in the Brunel building, Southmead Hospital, Bristol. You will be seen in this clinic if you have an endocrine problem, that is a disorder of your thyroid gland or parathyroid glands, that may require surgery.

We are a tertiary referral centre which means that we treat patients who live in and around Bristol and patients from further afield, who do not have endocrine surgeons working in their local hospital.

Thyroid Gland

The thyroid is a small gland, shaped like a butterfly, which sits in front of your windpipe in your neck.

Parathyroid Glands

They are 4 little glands in your neck, next to the thyroid gland. Each is usually the size of a grain of rice.
